Composer, pianist and conductor. He graduated from PSM of the 2nd degree in Toruń in 1987 (Piano). He is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (choral conducting – 1990, music theory – 1999).
He furthered his compositional skills under the supervision of Karlheinz Stockhausen (master courses in Kuerten 1998-2001), Alain Savouret and Elżbieta Sikora (The International Course for Composers, Gdańsk 2000), among others.
In 2005 he received a PhD on Musical Arts in Conducting.
He recorded for Polish Radio and TV. In the years 1994-2001 he was the Musical Director of The Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz.
He gave concerts in the USA, Canada, Russia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Germany, and Lithuania. In the years 1996-97 he had his own radio programme Bydgoszcz Radio.
He has collaborated with TV Bydgoszcz, TV Polsat, TV Polonia and many theaters in Poland, as well as Russia, France, Canada, and Hungary.
Salaber’s compositions centre around two kinds of music: incidental music (for a few dozen theater performances) and music for children (over 100 songs and a musical).
Salaber has also created music for 2 feature films and 2 TV series. Other compositions (about 10), occasional in character are for choirs, voices, electronics and orchestra. These compositions are a combination of the sounds of traditional instruments (including ethnic instruments from different parts of the world) and electronic sounds. Salaber pays much attention to the spatiality of sound and takes into consideration the principles of perception while building and shaping tensions in his compositions.
Salaber is a member of ZAiKS (Polish Society of Authors and Composers). He received many prizes for his work as a composer at the Festival of Student Song, (Cracow 1985), from the Bydgoszcz Cultural Guide (1997), and the Province Governor of Bydgoszcz (1997). In 2002 he was given the title of The Bydgoszcz Citizen of the Year 2001). In the season of 2006/2007 he received a honorary mention from the monthly magazine „Theater” (in the Best Music category) for music for a theater performace of The Karamazov Brothers, dir. by A. Bubień.
Since 2006 he has been a lecturer at The Institut of Audiovisual Arts at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, and since 2010 he has also given lectures at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz [since 2013 as a professor].
